I had injury in my right wrist. I went through extensive physio and operations. At the end of my treatment I was told that I would have a lifetime discomfort in my right wrist. Not too long after finishing my treatment work was still bothersome for me, until I began working out with Laurie Dickson. I started with discomfort in my wrist and struggled with an overweight body (250 pounds) After a few short weeks of slow weight training I began to feel better then ever in my wrist. A month after working with Laurie I began an extensive weightlifting program with no discomfort. To this day I have no pain in my right wrist and continue to weight train with Laurie. I have also lost over 50 pounds in 3 months and feel like a new and better person. I thank my wife for finding Laurie for me and I thank Laurie for believing in me and helping me push myself to the limits and beyond.
I am a 50 year old Grandmother suffering with early onset degenerative arthritis in my neck and erratic joint pain in my right knee. The arthritis was diagnosed after I sustained an injury during a workout session designed by me. The fear of further damage left me unmotivated and depressed for well over a year.
I could not be more pleased with myself for making the decision to hire an expert, Laurie Dickson, as my personal trainer. In less than three months I have not only seen tape measurable results but no longer experience pain in either my neck or knee and my level of endurance continues to soar. For me the physical and mental rewards of working out with Laurie have been phenomenal and life changing. By continually educating me with respect to proper form and nutrition as well as encouraging realistic expectations Laurie has provided me a strong basis for continued success in my health and fitness journey.
Thank you Laurie!
One of my goals after turning 40 was to get in better shape; I wanted more strength and a better toned body. I thought that Laurie would set up my routines just like so many other fitness instructors but I very quickly saw the difference. She considered my individual needs, strengths and weaknesses and put a plan together for me. Laurie always listens to any concerns that I have and gave me hope because she is truly a one on one trainer. She always is focused on proper technique and the results became visible to me. She gave me some helpful advice about the importance of eating healthy even when my weight was not an issue. I feel strong and my workouts are fun again.
I have been working with Laurie as my personal trainer for approximately the last 6 months, but had previously gotten to know her and observe her training at our gym. When I decided I was having no success on my own, she was who I wanted to work with, as I found her very approachable and pleasant.
I have found Laurie extremely knowledgeable in her field, and she has been a tremendous help in reaching my various goals. I initially asked for help with what I call "functional fitness", as I found I was becoming clumsier, having more difficulty getting up off the floor, and I just was not anywhere near as strong and fit as I wanted to be. We have more than met this goal, and now I find I am much stronger and more coordinated than I have been in years. I actually picked a lady who had fallen in the restaurant bathroom up off the floor by putting my hands under her armpits and lifting! I wouldn't have been nearly as confident in my ability to do this prior to working with Laurie.
Laurie is very encouraging and gives lots of positive feedback, while encouraging me to push myself harder than I would ever push myself. Hearing "I think you have one more set in you" encourages me to find out if I really do, and then realizing she was right. She has a very good ability to recognize how much I can do, and yet the following day I will find I just feel like I have worked hard, not that I have worked too hard. I find that because of her belief in me, I am now believing I can do more than I thought as well.
I enjoy how Laurie will switch up the routine every session, as I get easily bored, and that doesn't happen with her. She addresses issues that I bring in that day, such as when I had walked up a hill with my husband the day before, and was tired much sooner than I expected. I also find that as she is telling me what exercises are next, and keeps track of the time or the count, I can really focus on the exercise itself, and don't waste mental energy tracking myself. I was very surprised at how much difference this makes in the quality of my workout.
I am definitely getting stronger, more agile, and find I am looking forward to my workouts with Laurie because I want to see what I am going to learn, how I have progressed, and because I just enjoy the hour I spend with her.
I would definitely recommend Laurie to anyone who was looking for a personal trainer, particularly if they were unsure of themselves.
